Dear Riser, welcome to the second and final stop on our journey to mainnet. We’ve leveled up our testnet! If you’ve been paying attention to some of the easter eggs we’ve shared in the last month, things will start to make a lot more sense now.

What’s different?

Sunrise is a specialized data availability layer for proof of liquidity and fee abstraction. On Sunrise, rollups and L2s can access blob space by providing liquidity to any pool of their choice, removing the net-fee extract model used by other DA’s and bootstrapping rollup liquidity. V2 represents an entire overhaul to both Sunrise Testnet and our blob module, making Sunrise more scalable than ever. However, that’s a topic for another day, for now let’s focus on the new and improved features of Sunrise Testnet v2. Here’s a quick look at what’s new:

  • A more interactive dashboard.
  • New functions for vRISE and governance, including gauge voting.
  • Your very own customisable Sunrise mascot (Haru).
  • Expanded activities increasing the ways you can earn tokens and rewards.
  • Expanded blockchain explorer for checking testnet transactions.
  • and more.

Ready to get started? Follow the testnet guide below.

Getting Started

  1. Visit The Testnet App
Visit the sunrise testnet app here.
Visit the Sunrise testnet app

TIP 💡: To avoid phishing attacks, make sure that you are visiting the correct URL: testnet.app.sunriselayer.io

New users must complete the following three steps to sign up for Testnet v2. You can use the same wallet addresses you used in v1 to sign up for v2. You will be able to see your v1 points when you sign in.

Step 1: Choose a unique username
Personalize your testnet interaction by choosing a distinct username. (NOTE: choose a good one this will be important on Sunrise mainnet)

Step 2: Connect Your Wallet(s)
To access the sunrise testnet and the testnet faucet, you must connect two separate wallets: an EVM wallet (e.g., Metamask) and a Cosmos wallet (e.g., Keplr, Leap). Click “Manage Wallet” to connect both.

Step 3. Complete proof of humanity
This testnet uses Gitcoin Passport as a Sybil deterrent. Connect your Gitcoin Passport to achieve the necessary Proof of Humanity score to participate in the testnet.. Ensure the EVM wallet linked to your Gitcoin Passport is the same one used for testnet activities.

TIP 💡: You need a minimum Gitcoin passport score of 16 to participate in the testnet.

Performing Testnet Activities

  1. Claim Testnet Tokens
After successfully signing up, navigate to “Faucet” to claim testnet tokens.
Claim Testnet Tokens

TIP 💡: The testnet has three main tokens:

$RISE: 10 $RISE can be claimed from the faucet daily.
$vRISE: $
vRISE can only be earned by providing liquidity.
Haru Yen:
Gain 10,000 Haru Yen for each 1 $vRISE you earn.

2. Swap Testnet Tokens
Click on the “swap” tab to view the Sunrise swap interface. After claiming tokens from the testnet faucet, this $RISE can then be swapped within the testnet app for other assets such as $ATOM, $USDC, $USDT.

3. Provide Liquidity
Click on the “Liquidity Pool” tab to view the Sunrise liquidity pool interface. The Sunrise testnet app features liquidity pools (LPs) such as ATOM/RISE, RISE/USDC, USDT/USDC, SHIB/USDC. Depositing eligible testnet assets into any of these pools will mark this task as completed.

Provide Liquidity

TIP 💡: By depositing in these LPs, you can earn vRISE rewards.

4. Participate in Governance
Use the $vRISE tokens you’ve accrued through liquidity provision by delegating them to a testnet validator. This not only increases your $vRISE earnings but also boosts your voting power based on the quantity of $vRISE you lock.

Participate in Governance

TIP 💡: You earn 10,000 Haru Yen for every 1 vRISE you earn.

5. Customize your Haru
Haru is modeled after the Japanese Shima Enaga bird. You can spend your Haru Yen on exclusive items for your Haru. Visit the Haru shop to explore the available items.

(Note: every unique Haru will be mintable as an NFT)
After purchasing new items, head to “Dress” to equip your Haru with these new items.

Customize your Haru

TIP 💡: Spend Haru Yen to gain XP and level up your Haru; only purchases made with Haru Yen contribute to levelling up.

6. Casino Games
The testnet Casino features three games where you can place large bets and hopefully claim the jackpot. The games available are “Prediction Market”, “Golden Egg”, and “Slot”. You can play any of these games using just your Haru Yen balance.

Casino Games

TIP 💡: Spending Haru Yen on Casino games won’t increase your XP, but it’s an excellent opportunity to increase your winnings and earn additional Haru Yen to spend on shop items.

7. Lottery
Feeling lucky? Participate in the testnet’s item-based lottery games using your Haru Yen, risk-free and full of fun.

Lottery games

TIP 💡: To be eligible for a raffle, users must own and be equipped with the items required for raffle participation.

FAQs
